UVSC Auto Expo History

Under the leadership of Wilson Sorensen, President of Utah Technical College (UTC), now renamed Utah Valley State College (UVSC), the Auto-Diesel Educational facility was opened on its new Orem Campus in 1975. By 1983, as the branches of the numerous Trees and shrubs grew and provided beauty and shade, it was selected as Utah's most beautiful public college campus.

Don Pendergrass, a Collision Repair instructor at the school, envisioned the campus as an ideal setting for a car show for the local, state and neighboring communities. In the fall of 1983, Don approached John Price. A Salt Lake City developer and entrepreneur, about contributing his influence and financial support to help establish a first-class car show on the Orem campus. Fortunately Mr. Price agreed to help or the idea might have ended right there.
