With Mr. Price's pledge of support, Don next went to UVSC's Development Office, headed by Delores Ritchie to present this car show idea and to see if the school would embrace it. After some reluctance due to parking vehicles on the lawns and other uncertainties, it was proposed that a questionnaire be completed by antique car owners to gauge the feelings about their participating. The strong favorable responses encouraged the Development Office to go ahead with the planning of the first show.

Eli Williams, John Price's antique auto museum curator, was asked to head the car display and competition portion of the show. Gale Hansen was asked to organize a Swap Meet to run concurrently with the auto show. Delores Ritchie from the Development Office organized a style show of models attired in antique clothing. Mr. Price suggested we call the show "Auto Expo."The name "Auto Expo" clicked and has been used at all successive UVSC Car Shows.

Eli Williams had a plan for judging the vehicles. He suggested using the same grading system used in school. "If you score over 90% in the classroom you get an A." Therefore if a vehicle scores over 90 points it should get a 1st, which made multiple winners possible in every category.
