The committee agreed with his judging plan. The same scoring principles were used for 2nd (80-89) and 3rd (70-79) finishes. This made it possible for everyone to go home a winner and have a "user friendly" competition. Approximately 60 vehicles were present and 20 "swappers" stalls were rented at the first Auto Expo held on August 17th, 1984.
By 1985, Delores Ritchie retired and B. J. from the Development Office was named to head the Auto Expo the 2nd year. Again, John Price agreed to support the show and pay for the participants lunches and John's wife Marci helped with providing some of the antique clothing for the fashion show.
Eli Williams was able to get Harrah's Auto Museum in Sparks, Nevada to agree to transport one of their classic vehicles to the Auto Expo. Local Provo jeweler and car collector Dick Losee was highlighted for the show and provided 7 of his classic automobiles. Although the show grew approximately 25% from the previous year in numbers of cars, swappers and attendees, it failed to generate sufficient revenue and therefore the Auto Expo was not held for the next 6 years.
